Fashion

Fashion Events are an important component of racing at Riccarton Park. This page keeps you up todate with all the events and happenings.

For the latest upcoming Fashion Events see our Promotions Page.

Angela Stone will again be co-ordinating activities for this and some other exciting fashion events being planned for the 2015-2016 racing season. She has provided the following information which should help you plan your day.

Race day attire is smart casual (i.e. no jeans, shorts, trainers or jandals. Men, a collared shirt is required).  Most people on course will be in raceday attire (i.e.suits and dresses) and we do encourage a HIGH STANDARD of dress. Dress in your finest!

New Zealand Cup and Show Week gives you the perfect excuse to get out and go shopping. There will be a fantastic array of gorgeous race wear on display oncourse - from colourful summer dresses and stylish headwear on the girls to smart suits and clever shirt and tie combinations for the guys.

What should I wear to each of the days?
Fashion and racing are inextricably entwined and there is no more fashionable event than the New Zealand Cup and Show week. Racing attracts the rich and famous, all dressed to the “nines” for a day of elegance, opulence, style and glamour.

Race day attire is all about style, sophistication, glamour and elegance and this is reflected in the fashion. When dressing for the track, think couture not cocktail – this is the day to dress in your finery!

When considering your outfit, think fun and frivolous but remember the golden rule – race wear must always be lady like!

Where do I shop?
Park Avenue in Addington is a great place to start for the ladies while Sergios in Merivale Mall offers everything for mens style. Many Christchurch designers and retail outlets have a range to suit so go and explore.

Dress To Win
Smart dressing won't go unnoticed at New Zealand Cup and Show Week.
There are fabulous fashion competitions during the week at both Riccarton Park and Addington where you could win big!
