Angela Stone will again be co-ordinating activities for this and some other exciting fashion events being planned for the 2011-2012 racing season. She has provided the following information which should help you plan your day.

Race day attire is smart casual (i.e. no jeans, shorts, trainers or jandals. Men, a collared shirt is required).  Most people on course will be in race day attire (i.e.suits and dresses) and we do encourage a HIGH STANDARD of dress. Dress in your finest!

New Zealand Cup and Show Week gives you the perfect excuse to get out and go shopping. There will be a fantastic array of gorgeous race wear on display oncourse - from colourful summer dresses and stylish headwear on the girls to smart suits and clever shirt and tie combinations for the guys.

What should I wear to each of the days?
Fashion and racing are inextricably entwined and there is no more fashionable event than the New Zealand Cup and Show week. Racing attracts the rich and famous, all dressed to the “nines” for a day of elegance, opulence, style and glamour.

Race day attire is all about style, sophistication, glamour and elegance and this is reflected in the fashion. When dressing for the track, think couture not cocktail – this is the day to dress in your finery!

When considering your outfit, think fun and frivolous but remember the golden rule – race wear must always be lady like!

Where do I shop?
Follow your heart to Ballantynes (New Zealand Cup and Show Week's Stategic Fashion Partner) and play out your fashion fantasies. Synonymous with designer fashion, Ballantynes boasts many designer brands including New Zealand’s top designers. All Christchurch designers and retail outlets have a range to suit so go and explore.
