Canterbury Racing Cluster
The Canterbury Westland Marlborough Racing District comprises a number of Racing Clubs in the northern half of the South Island which entered into a joint venture agreement from 1 August 2005 to manage and promote thoroughbred racing in the region.
A Board has been formed under the Chairmanship of George Ritchie and comprises Jill Bennington, Kevin Prendergast, Alastair Deans, Alastair McArthur, Tom Rooney, Tony Cook and Derek Mayne. Ray Poynter of the Marlborough Racing Club has now also been co-opted.
Tim Mills, of Canterbury Racing, is the Co-ordinator of the Board
The Board will develop and manage, financial policies, marketing strategies, promotional activities and stakes and race series initiatives on a joint basis to the benefit of the Clubs and stakeholders
